盆栽ごよみ365日 身近な草木を慈しむ四季折々の暮らし The 365 Days of Bonsai Calendar A seasonal lifestyle that celebrates familiar plants.
The language of this book is all Japanese.
The Shiozu Botanical Research Institute introduces approximately 200 varieties and more than 300 species of plants, focusing on those that are familiar to everyone.
Seedlings are plants that have not yet been trained to become bonsais. Takehiro and Kumiko Shiozu are the authors of this book and run the Shiozu Plant Research Institute, a "seedling shop," in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture. The institute uses horticultural techniques such as sowing seeds, taking cuttings, and layering to consistently produce bonsai from seedlings. This book focuses on plants commonly found in everyday life, such as cherry blossoms, zelkova, ginkgo, and pine trees. It introduces approximately 200 varieties and over 300 species of plants. Additionally, it features essential bonsai tools, such as watering cans and pruning shears; carefully selected pots; and decorative elements, such as base boards and mountain moss. While providing basic plant knowledge, the book aims to modernize and casualize the traditionally formal art of bonsai, proposing a lifestyle incorporating bonsai through flowers, plants, pots, and containers that are part of everyday life.
