When I became aware of Japanese pull saws, I purchased many brands and styles to determine which saw met my needs for doing Kumiko and joinery using hand tools. The Nakaya line of saws was far superior to any other saw I tried. Very thin kerf, very little vibration when starting a cut, razor sharp and soo easy to maintain a straight cut. I have tried all the Nakaya saws on the market and every one has been far and away the best I have used in every category. I actually bought a couple of extra saws in case the one I am currently using needs replacing. As I am still using the first ones I bought I may never need them but it’s nice to know if I damage one I have spares. I’ve even begun to use the hand saws to dimension my raw lumber as I’ve gained skills with these excellent tools over the past year, and find them as efficient and reliable as my bandsaw and table saw. Ripping an 8/4 Sugi or Hinoki cypress timber 8-10’ long requires little effort with a Nakaya Kataba or even the rip edge of a Ryoba. Relatively inexpensive and durable tools!
