Flattening the Surface of the Thick Aluminum Base

Before use and before applying the adhesive, be sure to flatten the surface. Since this is an industrial product, it meets the manufacturer's in-house standards. However, if a higher degree of flatness is required, additional surface leveling is necessary.

The flattening process is similar to flattening the bottom of a plane or the surface of a sharpening stone.

Flattening Procedure

• Attach 80–100 grit waterproof sandpaper to a flat surface, such as a surface plate, workbench, or thick glass plate, using water.
• Mark the surface after removing the protective film.
• Sand the surface until the markings disappear.
• Check the flatness using a straightedge.
• Make a right-angle guide to prevent misalignment during application.
• Before attaching, make sure there is no abrasive residue left on the flattened surface.
