About the Author
Eimei Nishikawa (Takaaki Nishikawa)
Born in 1955. Editor and chair researcher.
In addition to chairs and furniture, he edits and writes about everything related to wood, from forests and lumber to wood crafts.
He is the author of "Zensho kaiseki meisaku chaiso no genjiryoku zueiten" ("The Enlarged and Revised Illustrated Guide to the Origin of Masterpiece Chairs"), "Kono chaisa ha ichiban! A Guide to the Craftsmanship of Wood", "Trees and Wood: 101 Useful Japanese Species", etc. He has also co-authored "The Y Chair" and "The Y Chair".
Co-authored "Secrets of the Y Chair," "Windsor Chair Compendium," "Revised and Enlarged Dictionary of Wood Species for Understanding Wood Working Surfaces," "Lacquer Lacquer Lacquer Technique Book," and others.
Shigeru Sakamoto
Born in 1961. Woodwork designer.
After working in furniture production at Gotanda Manufacturing and other companies, joined D-SIGN (now Carl Hansen & Sun Japan) in 1991.
He was involved in sales promotion and product management (inspection, repair, import) of the Y chair, etc. He was instrumental in registering the Y chair as a three-dimensional trademark.
After leaving the company in 2014, he established sim design. In addition to working as a designer, he also takes on the reupholstering and repair of paper cords for Y chairs and other products.
He has participated in competitions since he was with the company and has won a number of prizes, including the Grand Prize at the 1st "Wooden Chair in Daily Life Exhibition" in 1998 and the Grand Prize in the Factory Craft Category at the "Craft City Takaoka Craft Competition" in 2015.
Co-author of "The Secret of Y Chair.

椅子や家具の他、森林や木材から木工芸に至るまで、木に関することを主なテーマにして編集・執筆活動を行っている。
著書に『増補改訂 名作椅子の由来図典』『この椅子が一番!』『手づくりする木のスツール』『木のものづくり探訪』『樹木と木材の図鑑-日本の有用種101』等。
共著に『Yチェアの秘密』『ウィンザーチェア大全』『増補改訂 原色 木材加工面がわかる樹種事典』『漆塗りの技法書』等。
■坂本 茂(サカモト シゲル)
1961年生まれ。木工デザイナー。
五反田製作所などで家具製作に携わった後、91年にディー・サイン(現、カール・ハンセン&サン ジャパン)入社。
Yチェアなどの販促や商品管理(検品、修理、輸入業務)に携わる。Yチェアの立体商標登録に尽力。
2014年に退社後、sim design設立。デザイナーとして活動するほか、Yチェアなどのペーパーコードの張り替えや修理も受けている。
会社在籍時からコンペに参加し、入賞入選を重ねる。1998年、第1回「暮らしの中の木の椅子展」最優秀賞、2015年、「工芸都市高岡クラフトコンペ」ファクトリークラフト部門グランプリ受賞。
共著に『Yチェアの秘密』。
