鉋の種類・用途の説明は東京・三軒茶屋の土田刃物店店主、土田昇氏に精度の高い仕立てテクニックを元上松技術専門校の主任講師、上條勝氏に依頼しました。
また、鉋の歴史を、竹中大工道具館の元研究員、渡邉晶氏に執筆いただき、その他にも、砥石の話や「鉋大全」発行から、これまでの間の鍛冶屋の変遷を土田昇氏に執筆いただきました。
後半の平台鉋の基本的扱いや様々な鉋についての解説を、千葉の現役大工、川口泰弘氏に、さらに鉋を使いこなすための治具づくりなどを、新潟の建具屋、渡辺文彦氏に実演していただきます。
