Excellent kanna. Both the steel and dai are top notch. The dai required very little tuning. From time of order to receiving it took only 5 days, without expedited shipping!

After trying a variety of stones, these are my favorite, and the workhorse of my sharpening kit. Eventually, I will have only kuromaku stones. The don't require soaking after intial setup, have a nice feel, work quickly, and are easy to flatten.

I was surprised how annoyed I was with the messy swarf left behind by diamond and oil stones. I prefer a stone that can easily be lubricated and washed with water.

The stone works very well, leaves a mirror polished finish

I was happy to be able to fit one of my saw blades to such a handle so beautifully made by Mr. Kurashige!

The book has clear step-by-step photos of techniques and projects, so that even without understanding anything of the text it is still a valuable source.

This sashigane is a delight to hold and work with, I had not expected such a big difference with the cheaper mass-produced squares. Be aware that one side of the long leg is marked with sqrt(2) cm intervals, I presume for projected measurements along a diagonal. This can be useful, but I suspect it's mostly going to cause me some painful mistakes.

The cross & rip cutting speed is very good, both cut directions leave a very smooth surface, it surprised me how smooth it is.
